Corrections Policy and Log
Accuracy is a prerequisite, not a feature. Our commitment to readers is simple: when we get something wrong, we fix it publicly, we date the fix, and we log it on this page.
Our commitment to accuracy
Every factual claim on mortgageprotectioncompany.com is researched against primary sources and reviewed before publication. Our Editorial Policy describes our research and verification process in detail. Even with that process, errors happen — statistics go out of date, rules change, a source is misread, a number is transposed. When that happens, we want to hear about it, and we want to fix it.
How to report an error
If you believe an article on the Site contains a factual error:
Email editorial@mortgageprotectioncompany.com with the following:
- The URL of the affected article.
- The specific claim you believe is wrong, quoted or closely paraphrased so we can find it.
- A source that supports the correction — ideally a primary source (a government agency, regulator, carrier document, peer-reviewed study, or similar).
The more specific your note, the faster we can verify and publish the correction.
How we handle corrections
When we receive a correction request, or when we identify an error internally, we follow a consistent process:
- Acknowledge. We confirm receipt within two business days.
- Verify. An editor who did not write the original article checks the cited source against our published claim.
- Correct. If the claim was wrong, we update the article with the correct information.
- Disclose on the page. We add a dated correction notice at the bottom of the article stating what was wrong, what the corrected information is, and when the correction was made.
- Log it here. We add an entry to the corrections log below with a link to the affected article.
- Respond. We reply to the reporter with the outcome, usually within five business days of verification.
We do not silently edit published articles to remove errors. If material is removed or substantially rewritten for reasons other than a correction, we note that in the article as well.
If we determine after review that the original claim was correct, we respond to the reporter with our reasoning and the sources we relied on.
